LSO is seeking a strong controller to be based in Austin, Texas, that will be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations for both LSO Parcel and LSO Final Mile. The controller will bring strategic business acumen to the table, along with in-the-trenches skills and experience in a very complex accounting environment.
The Controller will coordinate the accounting, administrative, business planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and operational reporting efforts of the company. Working in a team-oriented culture, the controller will report to the company’s CFO, helping to build, restructure, and strengthen the accounting departments while managing and mentoring the accounting team.

Key Executive Objectives & Responsibilities
Assist in managing the monthly accounting close to ensure strict adherence to policies and procedures and adherence to calendar deadlines.
Responsible for execution of monthly GAAP financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes, including detailed monthly P&L forecasting, and variance analysis.
Oversee intramonth financial dashboard reporting with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Work directly with external auditors and tax accountants to ensure efficient and timely reviews/audits/tax returns.
Responsible for development of successful relationships and partnerships with Vendors, Sales & Marketing team, operations & field personnel, and Executives.
Manage a team of approximately 18 staff in Austin and Nashville in a manner that creates positive morale and engagement. Establish departmental priorities and ensure all deadlines are met. Functions include AP/AR/Payroll/Collections/Billing.
Monitor cash balances and report cash availability daily.
Facilitate and support detailed operational processes that have a financial impact on the business. Drive continuous process improvement and efficiency.
Be key contact for bankers, auditors, tax accountants, and other outside resources.
Work closely with Operations to insure inventory is accurate and correctly valued.
Coordinate with IT to communicate systems issues and monitor remediation.
Collaborate with other department managers to support overall enterprise and department goals and objectives.
Key Executive Skills & Requirements
BS/BA degree in accounting from a respected academic institution.
Master’s degree and/or MBA certification recommended.
15+ years of accounting experience, 10 years in a management position with 5 years as Controller. Management of accounting department required.
Public accounting or consumer services/B2B experience required.
Prefer strong technical accounting skills and ability to independently research and conclude on accounting positions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize, and respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office products, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as flowcharting.
Ability to handle and manage multiple projects.
Proven ability to coach and mentor associates to achieve departmental goals and deadlines while encouraging positive success-oriented thinking.
Some travel required (2-3 days every few weeks).
