China Merchants Securities (UK) Limited (CMSUK) is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Merchants Securities Company limited ("CMS"), a leading investment bank incorporated in the People's Republic of China. CMSUK was granted its regulatory business license by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in June 2014. In November 2014, the London Metal Exchange (LME) approved CMS UK for category 2, associate broker clearing membership.
CMSUK provides investors all-round professional commodities brokerage and trading services to corporations and financial institutions which have business needs concerning price risk hedging and trading via derivatives products listed on global commodities exchanges. While CMSUK is currently primarily focused on commodities and trading, it is envisaged that in the future we will gradually extend our service offerings beyond commodities to equities, fixed income, private equity and asset management.
The Assistant Accountant is a fantastic opportunity to be an important part of a major international organisation, well-positioned for career advancement. This position carries considerable responsibility. Working closely with the UK Financial Controller, the position holder will be expected to play a proactive role in supporting finance management and CMSUK business development while being continually mindful of best practice.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller;
Book keeping on CMSUK operational and employee expenses;
Managing and maintaining client on-boarding and documentation;
Conducting daily reconciliations for systems and central exchange/clearing houses;
Conduct daily bank reconciliation;
Preparing balance sheet reconciliations, month end accruals and monthly prepayments
Responsible for daily liquidity updates;
Assisting in daily CASS reconciliations;
Maintaining the general ledger for fixed assets, accruals and bank reconciliations;
Responsible for year-end financial statements production and communications with external auditors
Answering any accounting-related queries
Any other duties assigned by your supervisor or the Company;
Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor degree in accounting
Partially qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
Previous commercial/banking experience
Mandarin speaker at native/fluent level
Strong Attention to Detail
Ability to work independently handling a diverse workload and keeping to deadlines managing time and resources effectively.

Proactivity in keeping stakeholders up to date and informed on duties
