SUMMARY We are looking for a talented individual to lead Silicon Valley Bank's (SVB's) Emerging Manager Practice in London. The role is part of SVB's Venture Capital Relationship Management ('VCRM') team, and involves being a value-added partner and trusted advisor to founders and General Partners of new and emerging venture firms in the UK. The role involves bringing the entire value of the SVB platform to help these partners be successful and grow their firms. As our business continues to grow we are looking for a senior professional to lead SVB's Emerging Manager Practice in London. This is an exciting opportunity to develop the business in the UK and to partner with the next generation of leaders in the UK Venture and Growth ecosystems. The role is focused on building deep relationships with the founders and General Partners of new and emerging ventures firms and accelerators in the UK. By working closely with these teams, the individual will operate as trusted advisor to these firms, leveraging SVB's capabilities, network and experience to help these partners grow their firms. The role will also including developing relationships with the founders of their most exciting businesses in partnership with the commercial bank. Reporting to the European Head of VCRM in London, the successful candidate will build effective internal networks with multiple teams across the bank, including the highly successful Early Stage Practice and Venture & Growth teams that lead relationships with leading venture companies, the Global Funds Banking team that provides banking to VC and PE firms globally and the Global VCRM team that works with leading venture firms around the world. The role will specifically include:
Developing the fund coverage model and identifying key Emerging Managers in the UK
Building deep relationship with the founders and General Partners of Emerging VCs and accelerators to enable them to efficiently understand and access relevant parts of the SVB platform.
Generating new business for SVB through both fund and portfolio company banking and identifying opportunities to support portfolio companies with lending and credit products.
Developing the SVB brand by representing SVB in the market at industry events and conferences and creating high quality media, speaking and thought leadership opportunities.
Building effective internal networks within the SVB platform to enable full success in the role
Providing insight into the SVB platform on key industry and company trends to ensure SVB is developing its business to meet the needs of the innovative ecosystem.
This individual will likely have the following background/attributes:
Extensive experience working in the venture capital and start-up ecosystem
Prior experience as an investment or operations professional at an early stage venture capital firm or an institutional investment firm/family office which has invested in the venture asset class
Has a strong network with the General Partner/Limited Partner/Founder community in the UK
Passionate about technology start-ups and the venture ecosystem
Authentic relationship building skills and extremely self-motivated and success driven
Desire to be part of a market leading franchise in the technology and venture capital industries
The individual should have an entrepreneurial, collaborative approach and a flexible style that allows for the input of others.
