Senior Sourcing Specialist (Job code: 32916) Position Summary: Working closely with the existing team members, the Senior Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for originating and qualifying potential investment opportunities across multiple industry sectors targeted at the lower middle market. The successful candidate should bring the analytical, investing, communications and strategic skills needed to make an immediate and valuable contribution to the organization. Specific responsibilities include: Identify, filter and qualify prospective investment opportunities to make the best use of Alcentra s financial and human capital. Perform industry and company due diligence. Oversight and accountability for financial analysis, valuation and modeling. Financial structuring including working with a variety of capital providers. Assist in deal and credit negotiations. Develop and maintain deep relationships with middle market intermediaries including investment banks, commercial banks, business brokers, consulting firms, accountants, and law firms for deal referrals. Attend relevant trade shows as well as other industry associations or functions in industry verticals that are of interest such that the firm s relationships expand and strength. Meet with management teams. Clearly communicate with operating company management teams and other members of the internal team. Assist on an as needed basis in fund raising efforts. Mentor junior professionals as a player/coach. In addition, the incumbent will also develop a strategy and related asset management products/vehicles focused on the U.S. middle market. These will include, but are not limited to, a private equity co-investment vehicle(s) as well as a middle market private equity fund-of-fund(s) for both institutional and Bank of New York Mellon internal and external clients.
Candidate Profile: The successful candidate will be a charismatic, high-energy individual who has a demonstrated track record of success in investment origination activities. He/she must be a team player who believes in accountability, is approachable, has a strong sense of urgency, and is results-oriented. This should include: Over eight years of experience from financial sponsor coverage, private equity business development or financial services business development roles. Proven success originating and qualifying investment opportunities, including a high level of proficiency in industry and company due diligence, financial analysis, and modeling, valuation and financial structuring. Private equity and leverage finance knowledge that enables the new hire to adequately filter prospective new investments. This includes experience working on a variety of debt and equity financings including bank, uni-tranche, subordinated debt, preferred and equity deals. Broad, diversified industry experience is preferred (i.e. healthcare, information and business services, oil and gas, government services are examples). Maturity and presence to work with portfolio company management teams as well as attorneys, accountants, bankers and consultants. Strong communications skills including an ability to make presentations to senior executives and clearly articulate oneself in both written and oral forms.
Qualifications BA required. MBA and/or CFA preferred Willingness to travel extensively.
