General Counsel

Major, Lindsey & Africa has been exclusively retained to conduct a General Counsel search for a private equity boutique located in West Los Angeles, California.

Experience: 8-12+ years of progressive legal experience with foundational training in a well-respected law firm followed by in-house experience.  Ideal candidate will have proven business savvy and strategic vision, as well as experience with corporate, regulatory/legal compliance matters, commercial contracts, labor and employment, litigation management, and intellectual property management (soft IP).  As the sole General Counsel for this organization, the candidate must be a self-directed, self-starter with proven experience managing a lean legal function, as well as be able to roll up their sleeves.  There is a strong preference for candidates who have been in nimble, lean, fast-paced environments in a General Counsel role. 

You must be able to answer “yes” to the following four questions before you will be considered:

1. This position is not remote. Are you willing to work in the office daily?
2. Do you live within a 20 mile radius of West Los Angeles?
3. Do you have prior In-house experience?
4. Have you been a sole General Counsel?

Relocation:  Local candidates only. 

Bar:  Member in good standing of at least one U.S. state with the ability to become Registered In House Counsel (RIHC) in the State of California.
