Our client are the leading industry body and public policy advocate for the private equity and venture capital industry.The goal of this team is to promote a legal, regulatory and tax environment which enables enterprise and investment to flourish and ensure private equity and venture capital plays a full role in the success of the British economy.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals from a financial services legal & regulatory background that are looking to use their technical knowledge in a unique role where you are directly responsible for shaping the policy that affects the industry. This role offers tremendous industry exposure and the chance to work alongside some of the key players within this industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build relationships and networks with key stakeholders and members. This includes private equity and venture capital firms, advisers, other trade bodies and officials within government and regulators
Support the Head of Legal and Regulatory Policy on matters arising from the Regulatory Committee
Monitor regulatory developments to ensure the team is kept abreast of incoming regulation, consultations, etc;
Liaise with international partners on technical matters, including private equity and venture capital associations in Europe, the US and the Channel Islands
Provide regular updates to members to ensure they are kept informed of key regulatory developments within the industry.
Quickly build a thorough understanding of the key legislative files relevant to UK and EU regulation of the private equity and venture capital industry, including AIFMD, MiFID, SMCR and other frameworks (including post-Brexit UK regulation)
Provide and maintain technical content on the website;
Work with public affairs, communications and research teams to ensure consistency in all public messaging
Support the membership team on business development matters where policy team input is required

YOUR PROFILE:

Financial services experience working in a policy-oriented environment either in-house, or at a professional services firm, trade association, government department, regulator or fund administration
A good understanding of the post-crisis financial services regulatory framework and experience of monitoring legislative developments
Strong interpersonal and networking skills: the ability to build relationships is important so you are in a position to understand industry issues, articulate these, empathise with all parties you are working with
and provide pragmatic solutions
Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and liaise with senior executives from our member firms
Track record of project management and the ability to work to multiple deadlines simultaneously
