Our client is a Hamburg-based private investment firm with an entrepreneurial family history. Its focus is on the small to mid-cap sector in the DACH region, seeking companies which demonstrate strong potential and which would benefit from the funding, expertise and hands-on operational and strategic support our client brings. Investments are cross sector, with a flexible horizon to give portfolio companies time to deliver fully on their strategic promise; this may include making add-on acquisitions and/or entering new markets.
Target companies have a typical enterprise value of between EUR20m and EUR150m. There is a strong emphasis on active portfolio management, with the aim of maximizing company growth through solutions including buy and build, carve out, management buy-in or management buy-out. The company is seeking a new team member who will play a critical role in delivering value within an assigned portfolio company, as well as being an active member of the investment team. There is a particular interest in entrepreneurial candidates with top tier consulting experience who have led operational change in diverse business environments / industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The new team member will be actively involved within a portfolio company, with a mandate to drive growth, operational excellence, performance improvement and value enhancement. They will also be an active member of the investment team, analysing and considering new investment opportunities. In time, there will be a transition to actively seeking investments, presenting investment cases and executing successfully
  • Partner effectively with the leadership team of the portfolio company, providing actionable strategic recommendations which deliver real results
  • Fully understand the priorities of successful private equity investment and work to the highest standard
  • Display discernment and commercial judgement in investment recommendations
  • Participate in due diligence exercises and gathering of relevant financial data
  • Play an important role in financial modelling, tailored to the specifics of each opportunity
YOUR PROFILE:
  • Initial professional experience in top tier consulting, M&A, or private equity firm
  • Ideally experience of driving performance improvement within a single corporate, or within multiple corporate environments (possibly as a consultant), demonstrating a successful track record of actionable intelligence and change
  • Analytical, confident and enthusiastic about financial modelling
  • Communicative, embracing the team dynamic. Able to debate risks and opportunities in a balanced, mature way
  • Must be highly driven, self-motivated and entrepreneurial
  • The ideal candidate will have the potential to evolve in terms of autonomy and responsibilities, representing the firm to the highest professional standard when evaluating investments and partnering with leadership teams
  • Comfortable with demands of travel between Hamburg and portfolio company locations
  • Native-level German and English
