The Role: Associate in the Retail, Media & Leisure team
Grade 11: (for Internal Purposes)
The Location: Frankfurt or Paris
The Team You will report to the Analytical Manager and you will be working closely with some of the team's Lead Analysts. The industries we cover are generally classified as volatile and include many high yield credits, with significant ownership by private equity houses. The work pace is fast, with high numbers of event driven reviews caused by changes in operating performance, M&A or refinancing transactions, offering many opportunities for the candidate to be exposed to the major financing transactions in the capital markets and to quickly learn the world of corporate finance.
The Impact At S&P Global Ratings, your impact will be very significant and wide ranging. As an expert in at least two industries and in all aspects of high yield credit analysis, you will be representing S&P Global Ratings in front of the management teams of the companies you will cover. You will be leading the analytical effort with the industry's main companies in a number of event driven situations or debt financing transactions, coordinating a multidisciplinary team of experts, presenting your analytical opinions in front of Rating Committees and publishing rating actions. You will also represent S&P Global Ratings' analytical views in front of investors through roundtables and written reports.

Manage and maintain the rating surveillance on a portfolio of up to 14 credits, primarily in two of the 3 industries we cover in our team
Lead in the analysis of new ratings and/or M&A or refinancing transactions
Actively participate in publishing as the primary analyst on a number of credits and in investor outreach activities
Lead management meetings, interact with senior management of the companies we rate and deliver high levels of service excellence with all stakeholders
Be an analytical role model for colleagues and junior analysts and contribute to a culture of, learning, coaching and feedback
Contribute to problem solving and process improvement and innovation, helping to enhance processes and procedures
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related subject.
Corporate credit analysis experience of at least 3-4 years within a rating agency, commercial or investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, or an audit company (big 4).
Solid analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts, including strong financial modelling and excel skills.
Proficiency with calculations and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with strict and tight deadlines.
Experience in managing, interpreting, and synthesizing data for analytical purposes.
Understanding of and experience with legal transaction and debt documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of German or French would be ideal.
Any knowledge of the Retail, Media and Leisure industries would be a plus.
Team player with excellent time management skills.
Diligent and intellectually curious, self-starter with a strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
Adaptability and ability to accept and learn from feedback.
