The Venture Manager, will report directly to the Head of Venture within the CGO's division. S/he will work across the division and the company to support the development of strategic priorities by sourcing and cultivating investment opportunities that will deliver significant value to the organization. The Ventures team will be responsible for accelerating innovation and growth through key initiatives and helping shape the group strategy.
The role and team will support the advancement of the group's five key imperatives for Fiserv:
1. Defining the Fiserv 2.0 strategy, including company structure, brand positioning, mission and vision for the next stage of global growth.
2. Identifying inorganic (acquisition and partnerships) focus areas and executing the key transactions.
3. Supporting the cultural and organizational evolution of Fiserv to drive a client-first mindset and world-class partnerships.
4. Recasting our go-to-market approach to better serve customers holistically and accelerate revenue growth outside the core.
5. Driving new and differentiated holistic partnerships with the most strategic global clients.
This individual will be knowledgeable in payments, fintech, and strategy. S/he will have an ability to lead workstreams to commercial success. S/he will be comfortable working across global, highly matrixed organizational environments, and will possess an ability to execute investments from start to finish.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate extensively with the fintech ecosystem, and Fiserv colleagues and clients; build strong relationships with founders and investors and represent the Ventures team at both internal and external events.
Source and execute investment opportunities based on investment approach and market research, and refine our strategy as needed based on sectoral shifts and other available information.
Conduct due diligence on potential investment opportunities in partnership with other Fiserv team members and business units; formulate clear and compelling narratives that highlight the investment opportunity through comprehensive investment memos.
Monitor and actively partner with portfolio companies post-investment and serve as a point of contact during the portfolio monitoring process.
Support cross-functional stakeholder engagement and drive execution of key projects. Additionally, work collaboratively with stakeholders across Fiserv to advance commercial partnership opportunities.
Publish periodic research and content using qualitative (e.g., strategy development, competitive intelligence and market research, industry analysis) and quantitative (e.g. financial modeling) information.
Support workstreams related to the long-term strategic priorities that support Fiserv's mission and vision and generate incremental stakeholder value.
This candidate has a demonstrated track record of commercial success and driving organizational progress, and will bring a strong network within the fintech community. This individual will possess the following experiences and characteristics:
3+ years' experience in corporate finance, corporate strategy and development, payments, investment banking, and/or private equity and venture capital. Prior venture experience a plus, but not required.
Prior experience in, and knowledge of, payments, fintech, banking/financial services and software industries.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in highly ambitious and fast-paced settings with minimal guidance.
Excellent communications skills and ability to distill complex topics in a clear and succinct manner, no matter what the medium (e.g. memos, reports, presentations, meetings).
Ability to drive operational excellence in a large organization.
Extensive knowledge of the fintech sector and demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate shifting market opportunities
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or related field required; MBA/MS a plus, but not required.
